Commissioned by the late Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al Thani, ruler of Qatar from 1949-1960, this gold-plated wood and red velvet chair was manufactured in India in the year 1935. The chair was used by Sheikh Ali for official events and celebrations, including the visit of King Saud bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia to Qatar in 1954.
