The Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, ruler of Qatar from 1995-2013, was honored with the Order of the Grand Star of Djibouti. This star-shaped medal features a green and golden border, as well as a golden wreath, and is fastened to a green ribbon. The medal's center has a gold and blue border inscribed with the words "REPUBLIQUE DE DJIBOUTI" and the date 27-6-1977. The center of the medal is adorned with the lettering "UEP."
